Zen Lu is an electronic musician, sound artist, and interdisciplinary art practitioner. As a pivotal figure in Shenzhen’s experimental music community, he founded the independent music label We Play! Records and the avant-garde art collective Neo Sound. He is also a co-initiator of the China-Poland cross-border music collaboration project ChoP and a member of the N2 New Media Art Lab.

Zen Lu’s practice centers on advancing experimental music and interdisciplinary art collaborations, probing the convergence of sound, visual arts, spatial design, and new media. He has performed at global festivals and contributed to internationally acclaimed media art exhibitions.

Renowned for his minimalist compositions and ambient experimentation, Zen Lu crafts “sound ink-painting”—a sonic idiom blending dynamic tension with Eastern poetic sensibilities. His works are described as “electronic-frequency-infused mountain mistscapes.” Beyond solo projects, he actively expands cross-disciplinary practices, composing music for theater, film, and dance.
