Sounds of Topology of Sound

On June 10 and 17, I participated in the performance of “Topologies of the Real – Techne Shenzhen 2023” at the two venues with Dickson, Ken, and Jent at MOCAUP in Shenzhen. Each of the three sound artists chose a work to create and respond to.

On June 10, I selected Deng Yuejun’s piece “Liminal Dreaming +.” Deng Yuejun constructs a multidimensional natural landscape using mechanical movement and light and shadow, with five works from different periods overlapping and reorganizing in the same space, presenting a dreamlike mechanical “forest” spectacle. Most of Deng Yuejun’s works are inspired by nature, which aligns with my long-standing approach to sound creation. I will collect the sounds and signals generated by the movement of these works in real-time during the performance, responding to and engaging in dialogue with his piece. From the perspective of sound, I aim to observe and explore the relationships between humans and machines, society and technology, and technology and ecology within the same spacetime.

On June 17, I chose Wang Gongxin’s representative work “Dialogue.” In an independent space, I used sound and imagery to present an electronic landscape soundscape, engaging in dialogue with “Dialogue.”
